National Safety Week / Day (NSD), World Environment Day (WED) celebrated & National Fire Service Week / Day (FSD) were being observed across the country every year to promote the HSE Culture at work places.
In India, NSD is observed on 4th March. It is celebrated to highlight the importance of Safety in all spheres of life so as to prevent mishaps and accidents resulting out of neglect or lack of awareness.
FSD is observed to pay tribute to fireman who lost lives in a major explosion took place at Victoria Dock on ship S. S. Fort Stikine on 14th April 1944, which was carrying explosives and other combustibles. The explosion and the fire that followed resulted in massive destruction of ships, port facilities, and residential area in the neighborhood. Besides this accident claimed lives of over 68 Fire service personnel, about 150 Port personnel and unaccounted number of civilians. April 14 is being observed as the Fire Service Day throughout India and the following week as the Fire Service Week (FSW). Objective of these two Campaigns is to create awareness about Industrial Safety and Fire Protection / Prevention in work culture and life.
WED is celebrated on 5th June. It is celebrated to raise environmental awareness and encourage action on urgent environmental issues like plastic pollution, climate change, etc.
In order to Promote HSE Culture, GTL has celebrated 54th National Safety Week in 2025, World Environment Day and Fire Service Day with great enthusiasm and full spirit towards Safety & Environment. During these periods, various programs / competitions had been organized at Projects & O & M locations.
During all competitions, candidates participated with high level of Sprit, which was admirable. Various activities undertaken on the day were Poster Competition, Pinning of the badge, safety training, and plantation of Saplings, distribution of mementos and demonstration of Fire Fighting.
